Blackboard Notes:
Today's agenda: To understand a fairy tale (structure, element, principle)
Beginning: Once upon a time/ Long long time ago/ In the beginning / One...
Middle: When.../Ten years later/ As time passed by/ Afterwards, / Later, / Next, / Then, / For a while, /Suddenly, /However/
Ending: Finally, / At last, / In the end, / After all, /... happily...
Teaching Steps:
1. Teach Ss to use past tense when writing a story
2. Ask Ss to stand up and tell what are some of the time sequence words or phrases
3. Give each group a story(ex: red riding hood) and use the ‘magic words’(Beginning/Middle/Ending) when writing a story
4. Ask Ss to stand up. Two people a group. Role 1 little red riding hood. Role 2 three little pigs. Role 3: Cinderella. Role 4 Cinderella
5. T writes down characters in the black board
T: What are the good characters in the story?
Who are the evil characters in the story?
Rotation!!!
Ss discuss with a new member in the evil characters of the story
6. T writes down ‘setting’ in the black board( time and place)
T: what is the setting in your story?
7. What is the problem of your story? The BIGGEST problem!
The problem that xxx is going to face is that .........
(T provides the sentence pattern)
What is the solution to the problem in the story?
8. Ask Ss to write down a big chart in the mini white board.
The chart includes the four stories, good/evil characters, setting, problem, solution.
And they all live happily ever after.
Ss walk around and ‘steal’ the answers that you are not sure of.
9. T asks Ss to write down the formula of the story in mini white board.
A good character leaves home and S +V. After Ving/S+ V, he or she lives happily ever after
10. Ss write down the answer in the worksheet as an exit ticket!
