英文應避免的贅字--Final destination? ATM machine? PIN number?

前陣子整理空英的Language Lab筆記，看到這則例句:

.......看到噗哧而笑!XD 因為我那時剛好在讀字彙的力量2 這本書，裡面作者有講到英文要避免的贅字(儘管這些贅字也是母語人士偶爾也會講的)。

根據字彙的力量的作者，坐飛機一般來說可能會有很多站(stops)，那麼最後一站就是 final stop，也就是目的地(destination)。若講成 final destination 就是贅字了。

但我又查了一下劍橋字典，其實是有final destination這個collocation的，以下是例句:
(e.g.) We had to change planes twice before reaching our final destination.
(e.g.) His river of life reached its final destination on this day. (來自Cambridge English Corpus)

但我想，對語言龜毛的人可能還是會少用這個用法吧，我猜。

然後 final destination 其實是部電影，就是絕命終結站啦～還出了五集，前面三集蠻好看的（大離題）

同理，自動提款機直接講ATM(=automated teller machine)就好，不用講ATM machine，因為ATM的M就是machine的意思啊。

講到提款機，插入提款卡就需要密碼才能提款嘛，密碼就叫做PIN(=personal identification number)就好，不須要講PIN number，因為PIN的N就是number的意思。
